Switching toward a conscious and data driven Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) has always been the Santo Graal for the maintenance of critical rotating equipment, for which typically OEMs recommend a planned and time based maintenance.
Planned maintenance is proven not necessarily preventing from failures, thus impacting the Mean Time Between Failure of a unit, it also in many instances introduces a waste of time and money to perform unnecessary inspection of a unit.
